🥬 Ingredients
-
1 bunch of kale (preferably curly)
-
1–2 teaspoons olive oil (or spray oil for lighter coating)
-
¼ teaspoon salt (to taste) (I am using garlic and herb seasoning)_1
2 tbsp Corn flour
Optional seasonings
Garlic powder
Smoked paprika
- Nutritional yeast (for a cheesy flavor)
- Chili powder
⚙️ Instructions
-
Prepare the kale:
Wash the kale thoroughly and dry it completely with a kitchen towel or salad spinner or wash and air dry for one day— any moisture will cause soggy chips.
-
Remove stems:
Strip the leaves from the thick stems and tear them into bite-sized pieces. -
Season:
In a large bowl, drizzle the kale with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Massage the leaves gently for 1–2 minutes so they’re evenly coated and slightly softened. Add any optional seasonings at this stage.
-
Air fry:
-
Preheat your air fryer to 90c
-
Arrange the kale in a single layer in the basket (you may need to cook in batches).
-
Air fry for 30 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
-
Keep an eye on them in the last minute — they can go from crisp to burnt quickly!
-
-
Cool & enjoy:
Let the chips cool for a few minutes; they’ll crisp up even more as they cool.
💡 Tips for Perfect Kale Chips
-
Dry completely: Moisture is the enemy of crispiness.
-
Don’t overcrowd: Airflow is key — cook in batches if needed.
-
Customize flavors: Try everything bagel seasoning, parmesan, or lemon zest for variety.
🥄 Storage
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. If they lose crispiness, pop them back in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes to refresh.
